Herbs have been used for centuries for their health benefits and by using the whole plant you are benefitting from their many constituents and their actions on the body.
There are many potential benefits for consuming herbal teas besides the fact that some are yummy. Some plants like elderberry support your immune system, hawthorn can support your cardiovascular system, dandelion is your livers friend, chamomile is relaxing to your nervous system and helpful for digestion, turmeric can help reduce inflammation and passionflower may help you get your restful sleep. This is just a few plants and a very basic idea of what area of the body they are directed towards. There is so much more to the plants and their actions. They are truly a gift from God and so many can grow right in your front yard, like the sunny dandelion.
I think organic is best for several reasons. First, because they are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and chemicals. We are trying to better our health by using the plants, so I think organic is the best way to go. They are grown using sustainable farming practices that promote biodiversity and can help reduce oil erosion, conserve water, and promote healthier ecosystems.
They taste and smell better because they are often grown in nutrient-rich soil. Healthier soil leads to healthier plants and higher levels of nutrients. I prefer loose tea to tea bags, loose tea hasn’t been ground to a powder and sat in a warehouse for months or years. I also prefer to use a large infuser basket to steep my teas. That way my herbs can float loosely and every part of the plant that is touched by the water is infusing more healthy goodness into my tea.
It’s important to note that while herbal teas can have many health benefits, they should not be used as a replacement for medical treatment or advice. If you have any health concerns, it is always best to speak with your health practitioner.
